Annoyed with fake Facebook videos? Same.
Facebook is taking measure to change their algorithm so that you will no longer see static memes disguised as videos and images on your newsfeed.
Spammers, bots, and even poorly run media or advertising companies have been flooding our feeds with these fake videos in order to take advantage of Facebook's algorithm that places videos above all other content because of videos capability to relay more information than a text-based or static image based post.
When you log on to Facebook to see news from your friends, family, and organizations that you choose to receive information from – seeing a “fake” video that is mostly a static image that maybe moves slightly is disappointing and enough to make many people click the “Hide”, “Unfollow”, or even the “Unlike” button.
These changes are in part because of Facebook’s all-encompassing crackdown on all types of misleading content. Other updates have included suppressing links to sites with intrusive ads and shutting down bait-and-switch ads.
Businesses and organizations that are using this type of fake video content will soon see a drastic decrease in Post Reach, Engagements, and overall Page Traffic. On a positive note, businesses and organizations that utilize actual video content will soon be rewarded for doing such. These Pages will see an increase in Post Reach, overall visibility, and Engagements because their strong, dynamic video content will no longer have to “compete” with fake videos.
